Having It All Figured Out

In this world we live in, everything is fast paced, and it’s just how we expect it to be; results, food, delivery, information, life, and in the age of social media, it’s all thrown in our faces.
I was lucky enough to enjoy a long weekend in Malta. Such a beautiful country. Its Capital City Valletta was actually voted the European Capital of Culture for 2018, which is very impressive and very well deserved.
I met 3 other people on this trip around the same age as me.
When we did the intros, got to know each other a bit more and asked how they ended up where they were, one girl who was a tech consultant said ‘I’m really good at it, but it’s not my passion, I don’t know what that is yet’. And as she said this, she seemed a bit disheartened.
But this stunning girl absolutely had no reason to be. She turned 26 the day we met her and had just bought a house. Seriously, this girl has life way more figured out than a lot of people I know, myself included!
And the problem with the way we live is we’re expected to follow this imaginary straight line called life. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. Finish High School, go to University, find a full time job, meet the love of your life, get married and start a family.
Being in your 20’s is the PRIME TIME in your life. It is the time to work that crappy job so you can afford to travel, have your heart broken, have amazing and not so amazing experiences, and meet incredible people who turn into lifelong friends.
We have plenty of time to figure out the rest.
Another girl on the trip has her own business. She’s 29, has had her business for a year, and two months ago she quit her comfortable full time job to commit to her business 100%. “I wouldn’t have been able to do what I’m doing now two years ago. I wouldn’t have been ready then, and would I have had the confidence.” It was because she spent her youth partying, meeting people, travelling and just enjoying her life that she realised her passion.
There are people out there who DO have it figured out, and that’s great, but if you’re not one of them, that’s absolutely fine as well.
Just do what you’re doing now and the rest will follow.
